CHARLES ELLIS REED
Charles
Ellis Reed was born 25 September 1910 at Elliott, Iowa; the son of
Charles Henry Reed and Clara Caroline Ellis. He attended Plowman
country school and Elliott High School, graduating in 1929.
He married
Doris Lula Larson at Elliott, Iowa on 22 January 1933. She was the
daughter of John Andrew Larson and Anna Carolina Victoria Hildor of
Elliott, Iowa. She was born near Randolph, Nebraska 23 May 1913 and
attended a country school near Stanton, Iowa and Elliott High
School, graduating in 1931.
They lived
and farmed east of Elliott, Iowa. Ellis was active in community
affairs, served on Elliott School Board 15 years. He was president
when the new Elementary building was erected in 1958. He was on the State
School Board several years and on Church Board for Elliott Church of
Christ 35 years. Doris was Church of Christ organist about 30 years.
She also helped cook for Hot Lunch program at Elliott Elementary
School and Griswold High School.
Their
children were - Novalene (Mrs. Clifford) Wright, born 4 Feb. 1940;
farms and lives near Atlantic, Iowa. Marcia (Mrs. Erwin) Friesen,
born 17 October 1944; who husband is High School Principal at
Oakland, Nebraska.
Ellis
passed away 11 February 1978 at Atlantic Hospital after two years
illness. His service was at Elliott Church of Christ, 14 February
1978, buried at Evergreen Cemetery, Red Oak, Iowa.
