G. W. POGUE
George Washington Pogue, son of Eleazer and Ann McDermott Pogue, was
born August 7, 1853 near Oquawke, Illinois.
Mary
Jane Reese, who became his wife December 24, 1878 was born at
Oquawke, Illinois on March 14, 1860. She was the daughter of Martin
and Elizabeth Taylor Reese.
After coming to Iowa they first settled near Red Oak, but they moved
to Piot Grove in 1893 when their children were small. All six grew
to maturity and married in the Elliott vicinity. One daughter,
Elizabeth, died in Red Oak before they moved to Pilot Grove. They
retired from the farm and moved to Elliott in 1907, where Mrs. Pogue
died March 14, 1909.
Mr. Pogue
married Jennie Mercer Dec. 4, 1909. He died at their home May 25,
1931. Shortly after his death Jennie moved to Red Oak, where she
died Nov. 14, 1952. All are buried at Hillside, Elliott. The Pogues
were Methodists.

Velma
Leora married Ray Petty. They had a son Neal and a daughter Janet.
Jennie
married Charles I. Hully. They had Beatrice, Maxine, and Bernard.
Grace
married John J. Manker. Their only son, Blaine, lives in Illinois
Ben
married Imogene Warren. They are parents of Eloise, Chester, Jack
and Betty.
Minnie
married Harry Braden. Their sons are Glenn, Moyne and Stanley.
Minnie lives in Griswold, and is the only survivor of the Pogue
family.
