W. J.
Petty and wife came to Iowa in a covered wagon and purchased land in
Montgomery County in 1864. Their children were W. F. Petty, J. H.
Petty, S. J. Petty, and Jesse Petty.
The children of
S. J. Petty are W. H. Petty and Emma E.
W. H. Petty and
Mrs. Ollie Petty are the parents of Lloyd L., Ross E., Dean A., Milo
C., Vernon E., Mae (Mrs. Daryl Showalter), Max L., Doris (Mrs. Bill
Weston) all of the Elliott vicinity, except Ross who lives at Chico,
California. Vernon passed away when he was three years old. My
grandfather, W. J. Petty, lived to be 92. He was a joy to know, and
lived in the present. He had many friends. I am proud to be his
granddaughter.
