  THE BOSS Boot and Shoe Shop, proprietor Peter Stinemark, native of Prussia, Professor of Boot-and-Shoe-Ology. The shop was on Main Street, one door east of Johnson House.

   PIONEER BOOT AND SHOE HOUSE, proprietor S. J. Devorak. His wife was a dressmaker. The shop was on north side, west end of Main Street.

   CYCLONE BILLIARD HALL, props. Warman & Co., located north side of Main Street, one block west of Depot. They have billiard tables plus Milwaukee Beer, Native Wines, Mineral Water and lemonade.

   THE ELLIOTT BARBED WIRE FACTORY, props. Geo. W. Devoe and O. T. Warman with factory located in rear of Cyclone Billiard Hall.

   J. B. SNYDER & CO., GENERAL MERCHANDISE proprietor J. B. Snyder, offering dry goods, groceries, boots and shoes. (located on south side of Main Street, on corner where Turner Trucking is located in 1979.

   MILFORD AND ELLIOTT DAILY HACK LINE proprietor W. H. Wells, providing passenger service and express package delivery. (later a Mr. Rhue operated this hack line.)

   TORNADO SALOON proprietor Wesley Mills, native of Ohio, located adjacent to the Depot, and serving Lager Beer and Native Wine.

   MURER AND MURRAY LUMBER, proprietors Thomas Murray, native of Indiana; and John Murer, who was the first permanent settler, along with his wife and child. These men carried on an extensive lumber and grain business located on the north side of Main Street, by the little building which was built for an office by Dr. Carson.

   FIRST DRAYLINE by Mike Laihr in 1880.

   EDD MILLS was the first Lawyer.

   BRYSON AND SONS LUMBER YARD managed by an agent Louis St. Antoine, and the lumber yard is reported to have a stock of lumber valued from $7000 to $8000. Mr. St. Antoine, a native of Canada, was in Elliott as early as Sept.1879.

   HARDWARE STORE operated by J. G. Hershman, native of Kentucky.

   BLACKSMITH SHOP operated by Joseph Streepy, native of Pennsylvania (from 1942 obituary, near where the Houghton State Bank now stands.)

   GROCERY STORE operated by Edwin P. Crabbe, originally from Illinois, a resident of Iowa two years and Elliott six months; listed as single and an eligible candidate for the head of a happy family.

   ICE CREAM PARLOR operated by Mr. Wiseman.

   L. W. McCOMB keeps a deservedly popular boarding house east of the Depot. He is a native of Illinois
