JARBOE
Fredrick
W. Jarboe was born Dec. 26, 1883, in Douglas Co., Kansas, the son of
James William and Mary E. Pugher Jarboe. His mother died thirteen
days after his birth. A family by the name of Stutsman raised him
until he was 13. He went to live with his father and step-mother. At
the age of 17, he went to make his home with his cousin and her
family in Adams Co., Iowa. He was a farm laborer as a youth. On Feb.
25, 1906 he married Edith Mabel Figgins, (born April 12, 1884 in
Montgomery Co., Iowa.) at the home of her parents, Adam and Rachael Rosecrans Figgins. Fred and Mabel lived on the farm where Mabel was
born and raised, until 1931, when they moved to Elliott, where Fred
was in the produce business. Four children were born to Fred and
Mabel, while they lived on the "Home Farm". Roy (July 29, 1907-d.
Jan 1945); Inez Ruby (July 9, 1909); Martha Marie (Aug. 1,
1912-d.Feb. 13, 1916); Gerald Laverne (Jan. 16, 1923). Fred was a
devout and very active member of the Christian Church in Mortons
Mill and in Elliott after he moved there in 1931. He served as a
deacon, Sunday School Superintendent and in all ways possible. Mabel
died June 12, 1945; and Fred Oct. 1, 1957. Both are buried in the
Mortons Mill Cemetery as is their son Roy and daughter Martha Marie.
