GEMMILL

     Duncan Gemmill, Jr. moved to Montgomery County with his father and family in about the year 1880. He married Elsie Wendler in 1916. At that time he moved onto the Milo Ling farm where he lived until his death in 1929. Two children were born to Duncan and Elsie. They were Earl, born in 1919, and Florence born in 1921. Elsie, now Elsie Adams, lives in Red Oak. Florence, now Mrs. G. W. (Jim) Peterman, lives on a farm near Morton Mills. Earl married Florence Beggs in 1943 and they lived in Pilot Grove township for twenty years, seventeen of those years on the family farm five miles east of Elliott. In 1963 they moved to Elliott where they are still living. They have three children, Nancy, born in 1945 and who is now Mrs. Richard Gresham of Dallas, Texas; Margaret, born in 1947, who is teaching at Storm Lake; and Douglas, born in 1950 and who is in the United States Air Force and stationed at Norton Air Force Base in San Bernardino, California.
