WILL AND NANCY FORTUNE
Will Fortune
(b. February 16, 1868, Bloomfield, Iowa - d. March 3, 1944, Elliott, Iowa)
and his wife Nancy (Hull) Fortune (b. January 11, 1869,
Bloomfield, Iowa - d. April 27, 1956, Red Oak, Iowa) lived many years in
Elliott. Both are buried at Elliott Hillside Cemetery. Will was
Principal of Elliott School, operated an insurance office in Elliott, and
was secretary of the Telephone Co. In Sept. 1938, Will and Nancy
celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary. They were members of the
Christian Church and were active in church activities and civic
work. Nancy and Mrs. Myrtle Carlisle always made the biscuits for the
chicken pie suppers at the Christian Church.
Will
and Nancy had two sons, Dewey and John. Dewey (b. Aug. 9, 1899 – d.
Jan. 22, 1938), is buried at Elliott Hillside Cemetery. Dewey sold
Dodge cars at Red Oak. John sold insurance in Carroll, Iowa. John’s
wife, Lois is deceased and buried at Elliott.
