D. E. BABB FAMILY
David
Edward Babb was born in Monroe County, Iowa, in 1869. His father was Benjamin Franklin Babb, who fought with the Union Army during the Civil
War. His mother was Caroline Rachel Weilenman, born in Switzerland.
There were eight children in this family.
Ed married Laura Belle Selders in Atlantic in 1895. She was born
in Montgomery County in 1873 to George Washington Selders and Louisa Jane
[Maddux] Selders. Ed died in 1949, Laura in 1945.
The family
of David Edward Babb moved from Nebraska to a farm north of Elliott in
1911. There were five children: Elsie Stoneking,
Hazel Peck, Clarice Babb, Gladys Wands, Roy Babb. All five
attended the Elliott High School. Roy taught Agriculture there for several
years. There were nine grandchildren in the family.
