AHLQUIST, JOHN, farmer, section 5. P. O.,
Stanton; born in Halland province, Sweden, May 21, 1839. He worked by the month
when young, thus earning his own living. May 15, 1869, he emigrated to America,
stopping for four years in Warren County, Illinois, and then came to Montgomery
County, in 1873. He now owns 73 acres of good land. He was married in 1870 to
Johanna Carlson; she was born in Sweden. They are the parents of seven children:
John, Anna, Thilda Stron, August, Almon C., Minnie, Otto. They are members of
the church.
ALMQUIST, JOHN P., section 30, P. O.
Stanton; he was born in Sweden, October 12, 1824. In 1865 he emigrated to
America, coming to Galesburg, Illinois, and living there two years; then moved
to Andover, Henry County, Illinois; then to Henry County, Iowa, living there
four years, and in 1873 came to this county. He was married to Miss Anna
Peterson, in August, 1846; she was born in Sweden in 1823. They are the parents
of six children, four living: Victor, born August 10, 1850; Ida, born August 8,
1856; Josie, born December 12, 1858; Albert, born March 1, 1860. He is the owner
of 80 acres of land, well improved. His principal business is farming and stock
raising, but works at times at his trade of blacksmithing. They belong to the
Lutheran church.
ANDERSON, JOHN A., P. O. Stanton. Mr.
Anderson was born in Sweden, and emigrated to this country with his parents at a
very early age. He remained with his parents until sixteen years old, when he

February 22, '74; Agnes, January 8, '79. One dead: Cora Augusta, born February
18, '63, died in '67. Mr. Anderson and wife are members of the church.

BODELSON, SWAN, farmer and stock-raiser,
section 9, P. O. Stanton; was born in Sweden, December 20, 1835. Emigrated to
this country in 1868, and came first to Crawford County, Iowa; remained there
until the spring of 1872, then came to his present home. He was married, in
Sweden, to Miss Inga Nilson, July 24, 1861; she was born February 18, 1831. They
are the parents of three children: Batty, born in Sweden, May 28, 1862; Ida,
born in Sweden, June 10, 1866; Minnie, born in Montgomery County, June 22, 1872;
she died October 20, 1879. Mr. Bodelson has eighty acres of land and a thrifty
young orchard on it. They are both members of the church. Mr. Bodelson is one of
the deacons of the church.
DAHLQUIST, CHARLES A., farmer, section 2, P.
O. Stanton; was born in Smaland, Sweden, October 27, 1849; emigrated to America
in 1867; stopping first in Henry County, Illinois, working there for three
years; in 1872 he came to this county, and was married January 27, 1877, to Emma
F. Anderson, a native of Sweden; she was born June 19, 1855. They have two
children: Mabel E., born April 16, 1878; Aden A., October 8, 1879. Mr. And Mrs.
Dahlquist are members of the church. He owns 160 acres of land well improved.
DONELSON, ANDREW J., farmer, section 3, P.
O. Stanton; owns 160 acres of land; he was born in Smaland, Sweden, July 16,
1819; has followed farming all his life. He emigrated to this country in 1869,
first stopping at Swedona, Mercer County, Illinois; then in 1870 moved to Page
County, Iowa, renting land and farming for five years; and in 1875 moved to
Montgomery County, locating on is present farm which he has well improved. He
was married in Sweden to Maria S. Johnson; they have four children living: John
V., born in 1850, married; Ida C., born August 21, 1857; Frank L., February 28,
1860; John H., May 9, 1862. Children deceased: Emma S., Hulda C., Britta G., Ada
M. Members of the church.
FRISK, AXEL J., farmer, section 6, P. O. Red
Oak; he was born in Ostergothland, Sweden, October 23, 1837; at the age of
fifteen years he was thrown upon his own resources for a livelihood, and earned
his living by day's work; he came to America I 1868, stopping first in Henderson
County, Illinois, and in 1872 he came to this county; he now owns sixty acres of
land with good improvements. He was married in Sweden, January 29, 1866, to Miss
Gustava Johnson, who was born May 7, 1838, and came to this country in 1869;
they are members of the Swedish church. They have four children: Huldah E., born
December 1, 1867; Emil, May 20, 1872; Alexander, October 12, 1874; Victor, March
10, 1877.
FAHLIN, ANDREW, farmer, section 19, P. O.
Stanton; he was born in Sweden, September 2, 1842, and emigrated to Henry
County, Illinois, in 1869; lived there two years, and in 1871 came to Montgomery
County, Iowa. He was married to Miss Anna S. Linquist, September, 1869; by this
union they have had six children, three living: Charlie, was born March 7, 1867;
Andrew E., October 22, 1874; Clara, April 26, 1878. He has eighty acres of land;
nicely improved, with orchard, groves, etc., etc. They are both members of the
church.
HALLAND, REV. B. M., present pastor of the
Swedish Evangelical Lutheran Mamreland church, at Stanton; was born in Sweden,
district of Halland, October 15, 1837, at Hyttan, where he was raised and lived
until spring of 1855, when he emigrated to America. He worked first at Chicago,
then at different places until the fall of 1858, when he entered the state
university at Springfield, Illinois; he finished his studies at the Swedish
Lutheran Augustana college, at Paxton, Ford County, Illinois, in the spring of
1864, and was ordained to the ministry at Rockford, Illinois, June 19th, the
same year; had previously received a call form the Swedish Evangelical Lutheran
church, of Burlington, Iowa, where he entered upon his duties the first Sunday
in July of that year; he remained there until July, 1870, when he left his
charge there and moved to Stanton, Iowa, where he had located a Swedish
settlement. He contracted with the B. & M. railroad company to sell lands to
Swedes only , for a limited time, in certain townships in Montgomery and Page
counties, which gave start to the present extensive Swede settlement. He was at
the time the only minister for the new settlers, and had to travel constantly,
preaching in different localities, which gave him more to do than should be
undertaken by one man. Until July, 1877, he was officiating pastor for the
congregations at Stanton, and Douglas township, Page county; preaching two
Sundays at Stanton, and inside of his parish, except on special occasions when
called elsewhere. He has the confidence of his parishioners and neighbors, and
has a comfortable home in Stanton, also owns one hundred and sixty acres of
land. He was married in Galesburg, Illinois, October 15, 1861, to Hannah
Swenson; they have eight children: Johanna Othilia Adeodata, born in Burlington,
November 29, 1866; Anna Severina Albertun Dorothea, August 5, 1868; Adolfina
Beata L. Oct. 22, 1870; Lydia Emeline Esther, born in Stanton, May 5, 1873;
Johan Samuel Luther, April 7, 1875; Selma Carolina Eufonia, September 16, 1877;
two young sons born January 7, 1881, but not yet christened at this date,
January 13, 1881.
ISAACSON, ISAAC A., section 8, P. O.
Stanton; he was born in Sweden, April 29, 1841, and emigrated to this county in
1868. He came to Burlington and then to New Sweden, finally locating at Ottumwa,
and there learned the stone-cutter's trade, where he remained five years. He was
married to Miss Ida Peterson, July 10, 1870. She was born in Sweden, February
24, 1849. They have five children, one dead: Mary, born June 5, 1871, died in
August, 1871; Hannah C., born August 14, 1872; Julia M., born July 15, 1875;
Elizabeth A., born June 10, 1877; and Frederick E., born June 5, 1879. They are
both members of the church. Mr. Isaacson has been school director, road
supervisor, trustee and deacon in the church in Ottumwa. He now owns 160 acres
of land all improved.
JOHNSON, A. W., section 17, P. O. Stanton;
he was born in Sweden, November 6, 1849, and came to Henderson County, Illinois,
in 1867. He came to Montgomery County, Iowa, in 1874. He was married to Miss
Anna C. Johnson, March 9, 1872. They have two children, both deceased. Mrs.
Johnson died October 22, 1877. Mr. Johnson lived a widower for about seventeen
months, and then married Carrie L. Peterson in March, 1879. They have two
children by this marriage, both deceased. They are both members of the church.
He was educated in Sweden. He owns eighty acres of land well improved.
JOHNSON, CHRIST, section 18, P. O. Stanton;
was born in Sweden, December 12, 1829, and there grew to manhood. In 1870 he
emigrated to this country and located on the farm he now owns. Mr. Johnson is
engaged in farming and stock-raising. He was married to Miss Christine Battleson.
She was born in Sweden, March 22, 1833. They have seven children, three of whom
are living: Matilda, born in Sweden, February 24, 1860; August, born in
Montgomery County, Iowa, November 8, 1870; and Emma C., born March 24, 1875.
KALLSTROM, CHARLES G., organist and Swedish
school teacher, P. O. Stanton; born in Smaland, Katmar, of Sweden, February 14,
1855. When but a few days old he had the misfortune to lose by death his sister
(a twin) and also his mother. His father died in 1859, leaving him alone in the
world. He lived with his uncle and received a good common school education. He
emigrated to America in 1866, coming to Andover, Henry County, Illinois. In 1867
he was taken sick and not being able to support himself, he was taken to the
Swedish Orphans' Home, where he remained until 1873, when he came to this state
and county. In 1876 he was elected organist of the Swedish church of Stanton,
and also Swedish teacher, which positions he still occupies. He returned to
Sweden, in 1877, to have his eyes operated on, which was successfully done.
April 22, 1880, he was married in Stanton, to Miss Emily A. Nelson, who was born
in Sweden, April 20, 1856. Both are members of the church.
LOFSTEDT, LARS, P. O. Stanton; was born in
the province of Skane, in Sweden, August 13, 1839, where he learned the trade of
shoemaker, and which he has followed ever since. He came to this country in
1869, landing in Boston, Massachusetts. He remained there for two years, and
removed to Stanton September 1, 1871, and was one of the first citizens of the
town. There were at that time but two or three shanties and as many "dug-outs,"
one store and the foundation of the Swedish church. His was the second dwelling
house in the place, the Swedish minister's being the first. He began work sixty
dollars in debt, but now owns lots 254, 255, and 256 in the town of Stanton. He
is in partnership with a Mr. A. M. Anderson in a good store doing satisfactory
work. He was married to Miss Catherina Ostun, a native of the province of
Gotland, Sweden, April 24, 1869. They have no children. They are members of the
Swedish church.
MCCUNE, ROBERT, farmer, section 36, P. O.
Villisca; born in Indiana County, Pennsylvania, February 1832. He lived on the
farm until fifteen years of age, and then commenced boating on the Pennsylvania
canal, first as a driver, then bowsman, and then steersman, and finally he went
in partnership with his brother, bought a boat, and took charge of the same as
captain, in which capacity he served two seasons. In the fall of 1856 he sold
the boat and came to Des Moines County, Iowa, where he followed farming for two
years. In the fall of 1858 he moved to bioscott County, and in the spring of 1861
returned to Des Moines County. There he remained farming for a period of ten
years. In the fall of 1871 he came to this county and located near his present
farm, and in the fall of 1877 he moved to where he now resides. He owns 160
acres of land with a young orchard of about 150 trees. He was married January
22, 1856, to Miss Margaret Foster, a native of Pennsylvania. They have seven
children living, six sons and one daughter: David S., William J., Robert F.,
Harvey T., Stephen E., Maggie E., and Samuel Y.
MILNER, AARON B., farmer, section 20, P. O.
Stanton; was born in Highland County, Ohio, May 31, 1840, and moved from there
March 11, 1863 and came to Montgomery County, Iowa; then moved to Colorado for
three years; then engaged in freighting across the plains, following this for
five years; witnessed the burning of Julesburg, Colorado, February 2, 1865;
returned to Montgomery County, and engaged in farming and stock raising, which
he has followed ever since. Mr. Milner is a bachelor; has 160 acres of land,
well improved, and has his farm well stocked with horses, cattle and hogs. He
has been township clerk five years, and treasurer three years, and is president
of the school board at this time.
OSSIAN, JONAS L., farmer, section 19, P. O.
Stanton; he was born in Sweden, October 2, 1849, and emigrated May 1, 1869, to
Henry County, Illinois. He remained there eighteen months and then came to
Montgomery County, Iowa. In 1871 he was married to Miss Ida Almquist. She was
born in Sweden, August 8, 1856; by this marriage they have thee children: Emily
M., born January 19, 1875; Swan A., born March 23, 1877; Lida M., April 7, 1879.
Mr. And Mrs. Ossian are both members of the church. He is now the owner of 160
acres of improved land with a fine orchard of 200 trees. Mr. Ossian has his farm
well stocked with horses, cattle and hogs. When seventeen years old Mr. Ossian
had his right hand shot by accident, and so injured as to render it almost
useless. He, with this disadvantage, started in life without a dollar, but
enterprise and economy have overcome the difficulties, and he now has an
excellent home, "the work of his own hands."
PETERSON, JOHN F., resides on section 7, P.
O. Stanton; Mr. Peterson was born in Sweden, June 26, 1819, and came to America
in 1867, located in Wapello County, Iowa, and lived there four years; in 1871
came to Montgomery County, and settled on his present farm. He was married to
Miss Anna C. Fagerstrom, who was born in Sweden, September 29, 1826. They were
married November 2, 1845; they are the parents of eleven children, nine living:
Anna A., born February 24, '47; Ida C., February 4, '49; John A., January 1,
'51; Otto T., December 31, '52; Hannah C., December 13, '56; Edward P., February
15, '58, died February 25, '58; Jacob A., January 31, '60; Emma B., May 17, '62;
Victor O., September 24, '64; Leonard A., September 28, '66; Charles G.,
February 16, '70; died February 25, '70. They are both members of the church.
Mr. Peterson has four hundred and eighty acres of land, and on the eighty where
he lives he has a fine orchard of one hundred trees, also a nice grove around
the house; he has a large number of horses, cattle and hogs.
PETERSON, SWAN A., P. O. Stanton; he was
born in Sweden, April 25, 1839, and emigrated to Jefferson County, Iowa, in
1864, remaining there until 1869, then came to Montgomery County, Iowa. He was
married to Carrie Samuelson, February 24, 1868, who was born in Sweden, April
25, 1845; they have had four children; Amelia M., born October 18, '71, in
Montgomery County, Iowa; George A., born November 7, '73; Orant A., born May 4,
'77; Carl Oscar, born March 4, '79. Mr. Peterson has one hundred and twenty
acres of good land well improved, with about one and one-half acres in fruit
trees; he has his farm well stocked with a good grade of stock; he has held
several of the more important township offices; he and his wife are both members
of the Lutheran church.
PETERSON, WILLIAM, farmer, P. O. Stanton;
was born in Skane, Sweden, May 10, 1834, and emigrated to this country in 1869;
lived first in Henderson County, Illinois, for eight years; in 1870 he rented
land and brought his family to this country, and in 1877 came to this county and
worked for the railroad company. He was married in Sweden to Miss Christina
Peterson; she was born February 14, 1834; they were married in 1857; they are
the parents of the following named children: Elna C., born April 10, '58; Peter
C., November 5, '59; Rebecca C., December 25, '61; John C., July 10, '64; Frank,
July 19, '67; Mary H., July 2, '72; one girl died in 1875, was born the same
year. They are members of the church.
PALM, G. L., farmer, P. O. Stanton; he was
born in Sweden, September 30, 1844. He emigrated to America in 1869, locating at
Ottumwa, Iowa, and followed the trade of stone cutting until 1877; then moved to
his present home on section 7, bioscott township, Montgomery County. He was married
to Miss Anna Peterson, October 28, '71; she was born in Sweden, October 9, '53.
They have had five children, thee living and two dead: Joseph F., born January
5, '72, died in February, '74; Emma J., born August 30, '74; Lida, born
September 15, '76; Magnus L, born December 29, '79; Carl A., born December 24,
'80, died January 17, '81. They are both members of the Lutheran Church. He is
the owner of eighty acres of land all under cultivation, with young orchard of
fifty trees; Mr. Palm has been a successful farmer and stock raiser. He is a
school director in district No. 3.
PARKER, WILLIAM H., farmer, section 35, P.
O. Villisca; born in Highland County, Ohio, 1844; remained there until the
breaking out of the war. He enlisted December 15, 1861, in company F, 60th Ohio
volunteer infantry. Was at the surrender of Harper's Ferry, and was there taken
prisoner. Was held a short time and paroled. Went to Annapolis, Maryland, and
from there to parole camp at Chicago. While in parole camp his time expired, and
he was discharged November 20, 1862. He then returned to his home in Ohio, his
father and mother both having died about that time; he remained at home and used
every endeavor to keep the family of children together, in which he was
successful. In 1869 he sold his interest in the home place; moved to another
part of the county; bought a farm there, where he remained about five years. In
the spring of 1875 he came to Green County, where he had land; sold that, and
came to Villisca; lived there two years. In the spring of 1877 he moved to his
present location, where he owns 100 acres of good farming land, with good
improvements and fine young orchard. He was married in 1866 to Miss Harriet
Cowgill, a native of Ohio. They have two children, a son and a daughter; Carrie
E., and William C. Mr. Parker and his family are members of the Church of
Friends.
POWERS, WILLIAM G., farmer, section 35, P.
O. Villisca; born in Highland County, Ohio, in 1842; remained with his parents
at his birthplace until he was twenty-one years of age. He enlisted August 7,
1862, in company F, 60th Ohio volunteer infantry; was taken prisoner at the
surrender of Harper's Ferry; was sent to parole camp at Chicago, and was
discharged November 20, 1862, his time having expired while in parole camp. He
returned to his home in Ohio; there he remained until September, 1863; he then
went to Knox County, Illinois; remained one year; returned to Highland County,
Ohio; married and moved to Mercer County, Illinois, where he remained ten years.
IN February, 1874, he moved to Iowa and located in this county, near where he
now lives; remained there almost four years. On New Year's day, 1878 he moved to
his present location. Owns 80 acres of land with good young orchard, containing
one hundred or more apple trees, besides cherries, plums, pears and grapes. He
was married December 14, 1864, to Miss Nancy C. Creed, a native of Ohio. They
are members of the M. E. church, and are the parents of seven children - three
sons and four daughters: Eva M., Edwin E., Julia I., James C., Maud M., Stella
A. and Harry E.
SAMUELSON, AUGUST, farmer, section 22, P. O.
Stanton; born in Sweden, in Ostergothland, November 10, 1836. He emigrated to
America in 1868, stopping first in Henry County, Illinois, farming by the month
for two years; then rented land for two years. In 1874 he moved to Page County,
and bought 160 acres of land, but sold out in 1877 and moved to Montgomery
County, where he now has 120 acres of good and well improved land. He was
married March 15, 1873, to Christine Erickson, a native of Sweden, born December
6, 1853. They have two children: Eva E., born December 6, 1873; May W., born May
26, 1879. They are members of the church.
SELLEGREN, GUST., resides in Stanton; was
born in the province of Westergothland, in Sweden, May 11, 1847; emigrated to
this country in 1868, to Lake Superior; and there worked in the mines for nine
months; then to Effingham, Illinois, and lived there for three years; then to
Chicago, there learned the carpenter's trade, and remained there for nine years;
and was there married to Miss Fannie Forsell, February 14, 1874; in July, 1876,
came to Stanton, with but little money; he now owns a good home and other
property besides; is a good workman, having built many of the houses in Stanton,
and bioscott township. They have two children: August W., born May 5, 1876;
Florence T., March 31, 1880. Are both members of the Swedish church.
SELLEGREN, JOHN, farmer, section 10, P. O.
Stanton; he was born in the province of Westergothland, Sweden, March 13, 1816,
and remained at home on the farm until twenty-eight years of age. He was married
October 20, 1844, to Sara C. Johnson; she was born in 1822. He was foreman on a
large farm called Stora Hof, for twenty years; he then emigrated to northern
Michigan, in 1864; here he worked for a mining company for nine months; then
moved to Effingham County, Illinois, and remained there five years. October 10,
1866, his wife died, leaving him with eight children; in 1869 he moved to
Montgomery County, and was among the first settlers in his township; he had not
the means to improve his farm, so worked upon the railroad for two years, after
which he moved on to his farm of eighty acres, which he now owns and which he
has well improved. He has had eight children: John A., born June 14, 1845; he
owns eighty acres of land in section 19, but lives with his father; August T.,
married; Lotta, married; Christine; Louisa, died 1873; Tilda, born May 5, 1858;
Casper, August 10, 1860; Otto, February 1, 1863. They are all members of the
church.
SHAW, CHARLES S., farmer, section 26, P. O.
Villisca; born in New York, in 1844; in 1867, he came to Knox County, Illinois,
where he remained one year; in the spring of 1868 he came to Montgomery County,
Iowa, and settled at his present location. He owns 240 acres of well improved
farm and pasture land; his farm is almost entirely surrounded with hedge fence,
and has a fine grove of soft maple, containing several thousand trees; he has a
fine young orchard of about three hundred apple trees, besides pears, cherries,
grapes and small fruits of every description. When Mr. Shaw came to Montgomery
County there were but two families living in his township. Mr. S. is a member of
the Adventist church.
SWANSON, ANDREW M., dry goods and groceries,
P. O. Stanton; born in Sweden, January 9, 1835; at the age of seventeen he
emigrated to America; on arriving at Rock Island, Illinois, he engaged to work
by the month, and at the end of five years rented land near New Boston,
Illinois; for several years Mr. Swanson followed farming and stock speculating;
in 1870 he sold out all his real estate in Illinois (360 acres of land) for
$10,000, and came to this county, where he bought 440 acres of land from the C.
B. & Q. R. R. company, besides speculators' land in Page County, which he
improved, building several good houses and one barn; in 1873 the greater portion
of his crop was destroyed by hail; he moved into Stanton that year, built a
store-house, and engaged in a farmers' supply store, dealing in dry goods,
groceries, hardware and implements; at this time his brother was in partnership
with him; in 1878 they built an elevator at an expense of $8,000, and in the
same year met with a severe loss on damaged corn, losing about $20,000, but they
stood by the wreck, and finally paid one hundred cents on the dollar. Mr. S. has
lately built a nice store-room, two stories, at an expense of $2,500, and has it
well stocked with goods; he has considerable real estate in town, and in bioscott
township; in 1858 he was married to Miss Anna L. Magnuesson, born in Sweden,
October 8, 1835. They have eight children: Olivia L., born October 5, 1859;
Jacob L., June 8, '61; David A., March 24, '64; Mathilda L., August 11, '66;
Anna A., May 5, '69; Simon J., April, '72; Constantine, March 12, '74; Octavius,
July 9, '79. They are members of the Swedish Lutheran church in Stanton.
SWANSON, ALFRED, dealer in grain and lumber;
born in Sweden in the province of Smaland, September 12, 1841. At the age of
twelve he emigrated to this country, landing in the year 1853. He first stopped
in Mercer County, Illinois, near New Boston, and worked on a farm by the month.
In September, 1861, he enlisted in the army, Forty-third Illinois regiment
infantry, and served until 1864, when he was mustered out at Little Rock,
Arkansas. H was in the battles of Shiloh, Corinth, Ft. Donelson, Fort Henry,
Vicksburg and Little Rock. He returned from the army to Henry County, Illinois,
and engaged in farming. In 1871 he moved to Montgomery County, Iowa, and farmed
for two years; in 1873 moved to Stanton and began the grain and lumber business,
which he still continues. In 1876 he was elected township trustee, and in 1879
was elected county supervisor and still continues in that office. Mr. Swanson is
rightly a leader among his own countrymen. He is a man of unimpeachable
character and a true Christian gentleman, respected by all who are acquainted
with him. Mr. Swanson owns an elevator at Stanton and also one in Nebraska. He
was married in Andover, Henry County Illinois, March 18, 1865, to Edna Sundberg,
a native of Sweden; she was born January 6, 1842. They have eight children:
Almida E., born July 24, 1866; Frank V., December 11, 1868; Alice, October 3,
1870; Hilda, October 9, 1872; Edward, March 3, 1874; Oscar, June 11, 1875;
Charles A., June 6, 1877; Josef E., September 30, 1879.
SWANSON, S. W., section 5, born in Sweden in
the province of Smaland, April 2, 1849; followed farming. He came to America
July 3, 1866, first locating in Andover, Illinois, and remained there for four
years, working by the month. In 1870 came to this county with $300 in money. He
is now the owner of a fine farm, well improved. He was married to Miss Helena
Palmquist, March 26, 1876. They have one son: Arnet N., born April, 1877; one
daughter, Edith E., born December 12, 1880. Mr. and Mrs. Swanson are both
members of the Swedish church.
WALL, CHARLES, section 8, P. O. Stanton; was
born in Sweden February 14, 1839; came to America September 17, 1864, stopping
in Galesburg, Illinois, for a short time; then located in Henderson County, and
remained there until 1875, when he moved to Montgomery County, Iowa. He was
married in Galesburg, Illinois, to Miss Sophia Starr, November 17, 1864; she was
born in Sweden, April 12, 1841. They have had seven children, two deceased: John
W., born November 17, '66; Peter A., February 4, '69; Mary, November 27, '72;
Ida, August 7, '75; Anna, February 16, '77 - died December 16, '80; Frank H.,
born April 26, '79; Charles A., May 29, 1870 - died March 15, '71. Mr. and Mrs.
Wall are both members of the church. Mr. Wall served one year as road
supervisor. He has eighty acres of land with orchard, groves, etc., etc. Mr.
Wall has good horses, cattle, and hogs, and is a thrifty farmer.
WESTLING, THEODORE, P. O. Stanton; born in
Sweden, July 1, 1854, and received a good common school education. Was employed
in the military in Sweden, also as foreman or watchman in a reform school in
Stockholm. He came to this country in 1880, and is now in the employ of A. S.
Anderson as a clerk in his store; and is a young man of good character and
highly respected.
