Charles Kittleson must have sold the land in North Dakota fairly soon, because as far as is known he never farmed it. 3. In the 1960's the ram still worked, and could be heard working in the "spring house" as about every 30 seconds it would go "ca-chunk" and send a squirt of water up to a small water tower close to the house. 4. The church would be the First Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar, then probably known as the Norwegian Evangelical Lutheran church. 5. There is a small chance that the robbers in question were the Jesse James Gang, perhaps heading to Northfield, Minnesota. No one knows anything else about the incident at the Kittleson farm. It is believed that an old stage coach road used to go along the river, through what is the Kittleson farm. 6. Nellie Gilbertson became a Christian Scientist, as did Louise (Carrie) Kittleson Kittilsen; who married Carl Otto Kittilsen. 7. Refers to Anne Holton Kittilsen of Stoughton, Dane county, Wisconsin. 8. Information supplied by Jan Docka, April 2005, jdocka@ameritech.net.
