Liv Mekkelsdatter Tollefson Rust was born in Rock Prairie, Wisconsin on September 22, 1846. Her parents were Mikkel Golberg Tolleivson (1806-1872) and Gro Eldbjoro Andresdatter. Mikkel was born in Gol, Hallingdal, Buskerud county, Norway. Mikkel and Guri were married in 1833 in Norway.
Liv married Abraham Theodore Knutsen Berg (Tollefson) on December 28, 1870. They had four children: Carl Thomas Tollefson, Michael George Tollefson, Alfred Lauritz Tollefson, and Anna Helena 'Lena' Tollefson. Liv died on October 29, 1920 in St. Ansgar, and was buried in the First Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Their son Carl was born on December 31, 1872 in Mitchell county. He married Clara Olivia Lane who was born in 1872 in Mitchell county; the daughter of Hans K. Lane and Mary L. Nelson. They were married on October 9, 1895. Carl and Clara had five children: Helga Mae (Mae Larson), Carl Thomas, Thelma Lurlry, Clarice Valborg and June Alice. Carl died 5 July 1915, and was buried in First Lutheran Cemetery in St. Ansgar. Mikkel George was born on May 18, 1876 in St. Ansgar Twp; and died in 1938. He married Ragnild Andrea Groth, on September 22, 1897 (or 98). Ragnild was the daughter of Assor Halstenson Groth and Kirsti Aslesen.
Michael and "Nellie" had two children; Ada Clarinda (1900-1994) and Luther Theodore (1902-1978) Alfred was born on November 13, 1881 in Mitchell County, and died in 1916. He married Adel Fedson on November 18, 1905. Adel lived until January 1974. Both Alfred and Adel were buried in the St. Ansgar City Cemetery. Anna was born on August 28, 1884 in Mitchell County. She married George Alfred Halverson, on October 14, 1908. George was born in St. Ansgar Twp, Mitchell County, Iowa in 1879. George was the son of Andreas (Andrew Halvorson and Liv Lusinde Helgeson. Anna and George had four children: Thelma Lenore (1909-1991), Avery Lensworth (1914-1989), Harry Alfred (1916-1981) and Ruth Marjorie Halvorson (1919-1986).
Ruth married Lloyd W. Kroneman in 1940, and they are the parents of Diane and JoAnn. Ruth died in 1986. Lloyd was born on October 7, 1915 in Rock Township, Mitchell County; the son of Paul Frederick and Ida Marie Dieterichs Kroneman.
Liv's siblings included: Tolliev, and Andres which died in infancy; also Guri d.e. Mikkelsdatter Rust (1834-1906), Guri d.y. Mekkelson Rust (1837-1919), Tollef Mekkelson Rust Tollefsen (1840-1913), Anne Mekkelsdatter Rust (1844-1919), and Andres Mekkelson Rust (1850-1903).
As far as Liv's ancestry goes: her father's parents were: Tolleiv Golberg Olson (1771-1853), born in Norway in 1771 and died in 1853; and Guri Sore Eikle Knutsdatter (1774-1855). Guri's parents were Knut Endreson Eikle (1744-1825)and Anne Nilsdatter Froysak (1749-1818). Tolleiv Olson's parents were Ola Golberg Tolleivson (1747-1786) and Liv Fausko Eriksdatter (1752-1831). Ola's parents were Tolleiv Skaga-Vestre Golberg Olson (1702-1773) and Kari Vermaker Golberg Johannesdatter (1722-1751). Liv Fausko's parents were Erik Mikkelson Fausko and Margit Jacobsdatter Troym. Tolleiv Skaga-Vestre Golberg Olson's parents were Ola Skaga Ollson and Joran Froysak Bjornsdatter.
Liv's mother's parents were: Andres Olsson Eldbjør Nedre (1774-1819) and Guri Tolleivsdatter Jegleim Søre (1775 1844).
