Biographical Sketch of
Loren August Herman Roehr

Loren August Herman Roehr was born to Alvin Gustave Lewis and Katharine Erbe Roehr on December 10, 1897 in Mitchell County Iowa. In 1921 he married Irene Hazel Tucker, a school teacher, who was the daughter of Frederick D. and Clara B. Morse Tucker. They started farming on what is now the Victor Tabbert farm and successfully raised purebred Durock hogs.

When the Tabberts bought the farm in 1930 Lorena and Irene moved to the A.G. Roehr farm. From 1932 to 1940 they farmed both the Gustaf Becker and William Hartwig farms where they endured the depression and dust bowl.

Their son Duane was born in 1922, Kenneth in 1924, daughter Audrey in 1926, and son Gary in 1935.

Loren passed away on his farm near Rudd in 1943 at the age of 45. Irene lived until the age of 72, near all of her children in Burbank, California.
