Martin Moe

 

Martin Moe, residing in St. Ansgar, Iowa, was born in Dodgeville, Wisconsin, on the 4th of June, 1855, a son of Lars and Caroline Moe. The public schools afforded him his educational opportunities. And he started out in the business world in connection with newspaper interest. He was engaged in that business from 1877 for a period of fifteen years and since then has given his attention to real estate dealing and to auctioneering. He is also president of the St. Ansgar Telephone Exchange Company and he has carefully and wisely directed his interests along business lines, winning a fair measure of success in his undertakings.

On the 29th of April, 1882, in Osage, Iowa, Mr. Moe was united in marriage to Miss Ella L. Welch, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Welch, and they have a son and daughter; Francis J., who is now "somewhere in France," having responded to the call of the colors; and Mamie, who is at home.

Fraternally Mr. Moe is connected with Knights of Pythias, His political beliefs is that of the democratic party and at the present time he is filling the office of justice of the peace, in which position he renders decisions that are strictly fair and impartial. He has at all times been loyal to the best interest so the community and throughout the long period of his residence in Mitchell county has contributed much to its development and progress by his support of all measures for the general good.
