Axel H. Lindstad

 

Axel H. Lindstad lived in rural Osage, Iowa. He was born on October 28, 1893, on Vinørumsengen, Norway. His father was Hans H. Lindstad, who was born on November 16, 1864 on Vinørumseidet, Norway. Axel's mother was Maren Jakobsdatter. He attended the public schools in Norway.

The family came to America aboard the "Columbia," landing in New York on April 22, 1913, following a 14 day voyage. They then resided at what was called Rock Creek, in Mitchell County, Iowa. When they came to America, they left two brothers and a sister behind in Norway; they were Jakob, Carl, and Marie. In America, Axel had one brother and a sister, named Harold and Inga.

Han's parents were Halvor and Kjersti Vinørumsengen. Maren's parents were Jakob and Anne Vinørum. Hans had one brother, Edvard. Maren had three sisters: Marie Kristoffersen, Petrine Snellingen, Helen Bjørgesæter, all of which lived in Norway.
