Carl Lee, of Osage Iowa, was born on February 9, 1890, on the Skjervum farm in Gran, Hadeland, Norway. His father was Halvor Skjervum, and his mother's name was Berthe. Carl immigrated to the United States in 1907.
He married Kari Madson in 1914. Kari, however, died a few years later, in 1917. He then married Della Randine Framstad, on November 1, 1919. Carl worked as a farmer.
Halvor and Berthe had several other children, including: Kari Kamphaug, of Kristiania (Oslo), Norway; Karen Anundrud, Hadeland, Norway; Bertha Voldengen, Hadeland, Norway; Kirsten Skjervum, Hadeland, Norway; Mrs. Randi Wattum, Osage, Iowa; and Gilbert Lee, of Plymouth, Cerro Gordo County, Iowa.
