John Bartle

John Bartle came to West Mitchell, Mitchell county, Iowa, in 1869. He has since engaged in blacksmithing. He was the third of seven sons. His parents were natives of England, where they were married, emigrating to Iowa Co., Wis., in 1842, where John was born Oct. 27, 1847. He received a good education and learned his trade there, and in 1869 emigrated to Iowa.

He was married Jan. 10, 1872, to Rosa Vincent, a native of Iowa Co., Wis., born May, 1851. They have three children--Clara E., Myrtle L. and Evert V. Mr. Bartle is a republican, a member of the village council and a good citizen.

His father went to California in 1855, where he was killed in 1856. The mother is a resident of West Mitchell.
