Hammond, George,

 

 

                                      Farmer and breeder of thorough-bred stock, Sec. 13; P.O. Le Grand; owns 1,072 acres of land, valued at $35 per acre; born Feb. 29, 1828, in Jefferson Co., Ohio, came from there to this county in the Spring of 1852; remained that Summer, and returned to Ohio and spent the Winter, and returned the following year to Le Grand, purchased a steam sawmill in company with his brother which they run for eight years; for the last sixteen years he has devoted his time to farming, feeding and shipping stock. Married Jane Leach Aug. 9, 1857, in this county; she was born Sept. 11, 1831, in Columbiana Co., Ohio; have four children living—Frank, Alden, Ross and Henry W., lost one—Mary R. Mrs. Hammond is a member of the Friends’ Church; Republican.
