WAR MEMORIALS

Monumental Park was dedicated on Oct. 4, 1867. One of the first monuments erected to the Civil War dead. The Park and center monument were paid for by the people of Madison County.

Located in Winterset Monumental Park, this is a "memorial to the Patriotic Dead" of the Civil War.  It was erected in 1867.

This marker is located in the Winterset City Cemetery and stands at the end of the GAR Plot. Erected in memory of the Pitzer Post By Pitzer W.R.C. 1934. This is one of the newer of the monuments and memorials.

Erected in 1921 through the efforts of the Womans Relief Corps To the Memory of the Unknown Dead 1861-1865  1898-1898  1917-1919, located in the Peru Cemetery.

This is a memorial to the dead of World War 1.  It is located in the Winterset Cemetery and was erected in 1920.

Located in Patterson, Iowa, this is a memorial to two fallen World War 1 soldiers, Russell Salsbury and Joseph Downs.
