KEOTA. An incorporated city of 1000 inhabitants, in Keokuk county, close
to the line of Washington county, and on the O. br. C., R. I. & P. Ry, 18 miles
east of Sigourney (c h), 90 west of Davenport, and 67 northwest of Burlington.
It contains 5 churches, Methodist, Baptist, Christian and 2 Presbyterian, a
public school, a weekly newspaper, the "Eagle", and a bank. Shipments, stock,
horses, hay, corn, wheat, butter and eggs. Exp., U. S. Tel., W. U. Mail,
daily. John F. Wilson, postmaster.
