Jones County Woman's Relief Corps - Jones County IAGenWeb

The National Woman's Relief Corps, Auxiliary to the Grand Army of the Republic, is a patriotic organization whose express purpose is to serve the country's veterans. Members were responsible for decorating veteran's graves on Decoration Day, for caring for disabled veterans, and for seeing to the needs of widows and orphans of Civil War veterans.

The Corps was organized at the request of the GAR on July 25, 1883 in Denver, Colorado, and incorporated by act of the 87th Congress, September 7, 1962. Their National Headquarters and Museum is located at 629 South Seventh Street, Springfield, Illinois 62903.
