1. Photo provided by Richard Thomas. "This is Washington Elementary School. You might notice the cement cornice on the top of the building is breaking apart. They had a fence around the school and a roof over the doors to protect the kids if a piece should fall when they entered the building. I went there for the second semester of kindergarten in 1940 as we didn't have enough kids at Woodrow Wilson. to hold class. We were bussed there each afternoon from Woodrow Wilson. My wife went all the way through Washington school."
2. Photo provided by Richard Thomas. "This is Washington School from the southwest side. You will notice a door leading off the sidewalk. This is where the kindergarten class entered the building. We were segregated from the rest of the students."

5. Photo provided by Richard Thomas. "This is the Central Junior High school. When I went there it was the only junior high, long before Berg School. My cousin Chuck Griffin was principal when the school was closed. He gaduated from NHS in 1943.
