Reed Cemetery

The Reed Cemetery is located in Section 14 of Fairfield township. The GPS coordinates are 42.09184, -90.46115. This cemetery is sometimes confused with the North Bend Cemetery, which lies about 1 mile further west of the Reed, on the east side of the North Bend Schoolhouse, Section 16 of Fairfield township. Part of the confusion stems from the Reed being the primary burial grounds for the North Bend Baptist Church, which started in the North Bend Schoolhouse in 1859. Wm. E. Reed, son of Wm. & Margaret Reed, was the pastor. The North Bend Cemetery was a much new cemetery. All of the stones were removed sometime in the 1930s and are reputed to have been put in the foundation of the barn on the farm.
