Much of this information comes from the book "Stone Cities" by Donald B. Wentworth. Names in BOLD have had photos submitted to the Gravestone Photo Project. I hope if you are able to visit the cemetery, you will consider taking photos and submitting them. You can also email me and I can do the submissions for you. Please email with any corrections or additions as well.
The Old Van Buren Cemetery is located in Section 23 of Van Buren township. It dates from August of 1838 when Mrs. Bart Corwin became its first resident. There could have been as many as 50 or 60 burials in this cemetery. Unfortuantely, only eight names are documented as being buried here.
