Green Cemetery aka West Iron Hill Cemetery
This information comes from the book "Stone Cities" by Donald B. Wentworth. The Green cemetery is located in Farmer's Creek township. The GPS coordinates are 42.14600, -90.76860. In August 1858 James Green donated a one acre plot to the Trustees (Franklin Bowling, John Mann and John Sagers) for a burying ground.
In May, 1962, Ray Morehead, Verl Dutton, Fred Binns, Gary Binns and Ambrose Scott went to the Green Cemetery and cleaned it up. They found 67 marked graves, including 3 veteran's graves.
This is a Pioneer Cemetery and the Jackson County Pioneer Cemetery Commission has worked hard to restore and take care of this cemetery. Here are some photos they took at the cemetery when they were re-doing it.
