Cottonville Cemetery -- "Little Arlington"

Much of this information comes from the book "Stone Cities" by Donald B. Wentworth.   Names in BOLD have had photos submitted to the Gravestone Photo Project.  I hope if you are able to visit the cemetery, you will consider taking photos and submitting them.  You can also email me and I can do the submissions for you.  Please email with any corrections or additions as well.

The Cottonville Cemetery dates from 1852.  It is located in Section 27 of Richland township.  At one time, the cemetery belonged to a thriving community but now it is about all that is left.

Due to the high number of veteran's graves in the cemetery, there have been numerous attemps to clean-up the cemetery and keep it in such a way as to honor it's residents.  What you see is the result of many, many hours of very hard work and many dollars spent to make sure that the cemetery remains a respectful memorial for the next 100 years.

These are some photos taken by the Jackson County Pioneer Cemetery Commission. Re-setting the military marker for Samuel Wasson.
