Donald Wentworth writes that "The Foster children were born to Stephen and Marilda (Sweezy) Foster.  These are reputedly the first burials in the cemetery.  They are also the only known members of the Sweezy family buried there.  Marilda was the daughter of Thomas Sweezy.  Stephen Foster served with the 2nd Iowa Volunteer Cavalry during the Civil War, which was the same unit as Marilda's brother, George W. Sweezy, served in.  One of their children, Allia A., married Thomas Dawson.  They had a son, Albert Foster Dawson, born January 26, 1872 at Spargueville, Iowa.  Allia A. (Foster) Dawson died April 4, 1873, when her son was 15 months old.  Albert F. was then raised by his grandparents, Stephen and Marilda Foster.  They moved to Van Buren township, near Buckeye, in 1876.  Sam and Marilda are buried in the Preston Cemetery.  Albert F. Dawson went on to have a long and distinguished career in politics and business from Van Buren township.  He is the only person from Jackson Co. ever elected to Congress.
