Nathem, Loren P. 1915 - 2002OELWEIN - Loren P/ Nathem, 86, Oelwein, died Wednesday, April 3, 2002 at the Grandview Health Care Center, Oelwein of natural causes. Funeral Services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, April 8 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oelwein with Rev. Frederick C. Fang-mann officiating. The organist was Coila Huffman ana Jim Mazziotti was the vocalist. Hymn selections included "Be Not Afraid", "The Old Rugged Cross", "On Eagle's Wings'*and "Here I Am Lord". Offertory gifts were presented by his godchild, Tom and Jo Lene Nos-bisch, Des Moines: Carol Hamilton was lector and communion distributor. Interment was at Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein with Leo.Einck, Tom Nosbisch, Roger Dreckman, Robert Dreckman Jr., Wayne W. Nathem and Wayne M. Nathem as casket bearers. Visitation was from 5-7 p..m. Sunday, April 7 at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein with a 6:30 p.m. Scripture Service. Loren Peter Nathem was born on June 16, 1915 in North Washington, the son of Peter and Gundra (Christopherson) Nathem. He received his education at St. Mary's Catholic School in North Washington. He was a. veteran of World War II serving in the Army. On June 5,1946, Loren married Rose Anna Einck at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church, Festina. Loren and Rose farmed near Janesville, Dunkerton, Maynard and Oelwein for many years retiring in 1970. They retired to Oelwein and spent many winters in Donna, TX. Loren \yas a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and had been a resident of Grandview Health Care Center since April of 2001. Survivors include a sister, Gertrude Hansen, Buffalo, MN and many nieces ana nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, Rose Anna, in 2000; four brothers, Gerald, Bernard, Donald and Jerome; one sister, Sophia Nosbisch and two siblings in infancy.
