Marsh, Roy Kenneth "Ken" 1923 - 2001Services were held for Roy Kenneth “Ken” Marsh, 78, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Riceville, on October 23 at Calvary Baptist Church in Cedar Rapids. Burial was at Liberty Cemetery, Little Cedar. Roy “Ken” Marsh died Saturday, October 20, in St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Ken was born January 4, 1923 in Menlo, Iowa, the son of Roy Marsh and Ila Mae Short. He married Geneva Johnson on October 14, 1945, in the Baptist Church in Little Cedar. He graduated from Riceville High School and the University of Iowa, with a Master’s degree in history. He taught American government at Roosevelt High School and Jefferson High School for 35 years. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he served as an usher for 33 years and was on the Calvary Baptist Education Committee. Ken served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the South Pacific area during World War II. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Loren Me Adam; and three sisters, infant Alice lone Marsh, Naomi Kildal, and Mae Eleanor Marsh. Survivors include his wife, Geneva; three daughters, Candi Thomson and her husband Max of New Castle, PA, Laurie Fish and her husband John of Shellsburg, Iowa and Julie McAdam of Cedar Rapids; three sisters, Eileen Varley, Alice L. Dow and lone Reese, all of Oregon; and five grandchildren, Adam, Drew and Jacob Fish, Brooke and Joanna Thomson.
