Lentz, George S. 1896 - 2002NEW HAMPTON -George S. Lentz, 105, New Hampton, died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002 at the New Hampton Care Center after a brief illness. A Mass of Christian Burial was held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 28 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Chujch, North Washington with Rev. John Hemann celebrating the mass. Music for the service will be provided by Jane Karels as organist and the Immaculate Conception Men's Choir. Cindy Holtnaus will be the lector. The offertory gifts will be presented by Margie Reicks and Cindy Holthaus. Wanda Sanderson will serve as the Eucharistic Minister. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, North Washington with grandsons Randy Boehmer, Kevin Boeh-mer, Glen Kuehn, Gene Kuehn, John Kuehn and Tim Kuehn as allbearers. Honorary pall-earers are members of the Catholic Order of Foresters, Norbert Blocker, Virgil Hils-man, Mary Hilsman, Margaret Joebgen, Jerome Kuhn and Louis Zeien. Visitation was 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27 at Huge-back Funeral Home, New Hampton where there was a 4 p.m. combined Catholic Order of Forester and Knights of Columbus Rosary ana a 5:30 p.m. Scripture Service. Further visitation was an hour prior to the funeral at the church. George was born Oct. 7,1896 in Beaver, the twin son of Bernard and Margaret (Fay) Lentz. He received his education in rural country schools near Boone. In 1915 George moved with his family to live on a.farm,east of Ionia. He married Theodora Bach on Feb. 22, 1922 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, North Washington. The couple farmed their entire lives. George became a resident of the New Hampton Care Center in 1988. He loved playing cards and visiting. He and his brother Charles became known as the oldest male twins in the U.S. while living at the care center. George was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus and Immaculate Conception Church, North Washington. Survivors include one son, Joe Lentz, New Hampton; two daughters, Pat (Leo) Kuehn, New Hampton and Fran (Jerome) Boehmer, Alta Vista; 11 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Theodora, in 1979; a daughter, LaVonne Eischeid; eight brothers and four sisters.
