Kuker, Wilbert W. 1928 - 2002SUMNER -- Wilbert "Bill" W. Kuker, 73, Sumner, formerly of Readlyn, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2002 at Allen Hospital, Waterloo, the result of injuries received in a motor vehicle accident. Funeral Services were 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Readlyn with Pastor Maury Ellwein officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Visitation was from 5-8 .m. Wednesday, Feb. 20 at aiser-Corson Funeral Home, Readlyn. Wiloert was born on Aug. 13, 1928 on a farm west of Tripoli, in Bremer County, the son of Carl and Clara (Boeckmann) Kuker. He was baptized on Sept. 2, 1928 at St. Paul's Lutherar Church, Artesian and was confirmed on April 6, 1931 at St. Paul's in Readlyn. He attended Readlyn High School and was a U.S. Army veteran. He married Marjorie Morris on May 23, 1954 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Waverly. The couple farmed until retiring in 1993. They moved to Sumner in 1995. Wilbert enjoyed farming, dancing, fishing, camping, chuckwagon races and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Marjorie; four sons, Richard (Beverly), Sumner, Calvin (Jean), Tripoli, Dennis (Lynn), Readlyn and Alan, San Antonio; a daughter, Linda (Mark) Davis, Charles City; 13 grandchildren; three step grandchildren; a great-grandchild; seven step great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ted and Robert (Shirley), both of Readlyn and two sisters, Gladys Poock and Ruth (Emil) Stumme, both of Readlyn. Preceding him in death were his parents; a daughter, Joyce and a sister, Agnes Wehling.
