Howell, Marcia L. nee Svendsen 1953 - 2002LAS VEGAS, NV - Marcia Lynn (Svendsen) Howell, 48, Las Vegas, NV died Sunday, March 10, 2002 at her home of breast cancer. A Memorial Service was held Friday, March 15 in the Davis Funeral Home, Las Vegas. Following the service all joined in singing "Happy Birthday" to Marcia. Memorial Services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, March 23 at Trinity Lutheran Church, New Hampton with Pastor David Bergstrom and Pastor Kevin Frey officiating. Music for the service will be provided by Edith Kolthoff as organist. Congregational selections are "Beautiful Savior", "What A Friend We Have in Jesus", "How Great Thou Art" and "The Lord's Prayer". Joe Scally will serve as a lector. A special tribute entitled "The Plan Of The Master" will be given by Marcia's nephew, John .Frey. Interment was in Paradise Memorial Cemetery, Las Vegas. Visitation will be an hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Marcia was born March 15, 1953 in New Hampton, the daughter of Reuben and Vernice (Engle) Svendsen. She graduated from Turkey Valley High School in 1971 and from NIACC, Mason City in 1973. She then moved to Las Vegas and married Robert D. Howell on Dec. 25, 1980. The couple owned and operated several companies. At her death, Marcia was vice-president of Action Towing, Inc., Las Vegas. Survivors include her husband, Robert; three sons, John (Christy) Howell, Kristopher and Bobby> Howell, all of Las Vegas; her mother, Vernice Svendsen, Lawler; three sisters, Dianne (Jack) Blazek, Lawler, Beverly (Jerry) Frey, Mason City and Mary Ann (Julio) Esquivel, Las Vegas; one brother, LeAllyn (Cindy) Svendsen, Steamboat Springs, CO and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her father; her grandparents and mother and father-in-law. Memorials may be sent to her mother, Vernice Svendsen, P.O. Box 214, Lawler, IA.Hugeback Funeral Home, New Hampton is in charge of the arrangements.
