Darci M. Herslerl, 15, of Forest City, died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002, from injuries sustained in an auto accident.

Funeral Mass was held Saturday, Oct. 5, at St. James Catholic Church in Forest City with the Rev. Jerry Blake officiating.

Burial was at St. James Catholic Cemetery in Forest City.

Darci Mae Hersleff, daughter of Laurie (Mayer) and Perry Hersleff of Forest City, was born on October 31, 1986, in Forest City. She was a sophomore at Forest City High School. She loved life and her friends, and always had a smile for all.

Darci was active in cross country, basketball, softball and was the president of her class. She loved to sing and dance.

Darci was outgoing and touched many people with her kindness and wonderful sense of humor.

Survivors include her mother, Laurie Hersleff, of Forest City, and a special friend, Gary Bahling, Titonka; her father, Perry Hersleff, of Forest City, and a special friend, Elin Mehlin; and her brother, Travis Hersleff, of Forest City. Also, maternal grandparents, Bill and Marvel Mayer of Riceville, and paternal grandparents, Bill and Sylvia Graves of Cedar Falls. Darci’s aunts and uncles include Randy and Cindy James of Graettinger, Todd and Jacky Hersleff of Ruthven, Kim Hersleff of Houston, Tex., Kirby and Chris Hersleff of Swea City, Ron Mayer of Riceville, Sheila and Brad Duenow of Eagan, Minn., and David and Maggie Mayer of Riceville, along with many cousins and second-cousins and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Alan Hersleff.
