Hentges, Clifford N. 1913 - 2002ALTA VISTA - Clifford Hentges, 89, Alta Vista, died Friday, Nov. 15, 2002 at Colonial Manor, Elma of natural causes. A Mass of Christian Burial was 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 18 at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Alta Vista with Reverend John Hemann officiating. Theresa Burke was the organist and accompanied the soloist, Jean Cerwinske, as well as the St. Bernard Mixed Choir singing "Here I Am Lord", "Be Not Afraid",' "Ave Maria" and "On Eagle’s Wings". Cindy Pospichal was the lector. Clifford’s daughter and son-in-law presented the offertory gifts and placed the 'pall along with Clifford's granddaughter, Michelle Fisher. Burial was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Alta Vista with Leo Pospichal, Joe Pospichal, Jim Hentges, Jack Hentges, Jerry Hentges and Ron Newsum serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers were Knights of Columbus Council 4144, Elma. Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17 at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home, Elma, where there was a 6 p.m. Knights of Columbus Rosary and a 7 p.m. Scripture Service. Further visitation was one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Clifford Nicholas Hentges was born Jan. 13, 1913 in Alta Vista, the son of Peter and Susan (Lentz) Hentges. He received his schooling from St. Williams Catholic School, Alta Vista. He married Evelyn Jacoby on June 6, 1938 at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Alta Vista. Following his schooling he worked for the W.P.A. and then for Brady Transfer and Storage, Ft. Dodge from 1936 to 1940. He owned the DX Station in Alta Vista from 1940 to 1949. He then went to work for the City of Alta Vista as a maintenance worker until his retirement in 1975. He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council 4144. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Survivors include a daughter, Sandy (Paul) Me-leney, Mason City; a granddaughter; four brothers, Elroy, Alta Vista, Clement, Ft. Dodge, Robert, Mason City and Paul, Alta Vista and two sisters, Maxine Neuhauser, Arcadia, CA and Mary Lou Pospichal, Ricevelle. Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Evelyn, in 1993 and a brother, Reynold Hentges.
