Elliot, Raymond F. 1911 - 2002FREDERICKSBURG Raymond Frank Elliott, 91, Fredericksburg, died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002 at New Hampton Care Center, New Hampton of natural causes. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15 a t Hillcrest Baptist and Brethren Church, Fredericksburg. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Fredericksburg. Visitation was from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14 a t Chenoweth and Son Funeral Home, Fredericksburg and one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Raymond was born Sept. 30, 1911 on the family farm east of Fredericksburg, the son of William and Bertha (Swanger) Elliott. He attended Social Center School where he graduated from eighth grade. Raymond went to high school for a short time and then worked with his father and a t other jobs in the area. He married Winifred Speicher in the Brethren Church in Fredericksburg. He farmed for 40 years in the Fredericksburg area, retiring in 1972. During retirement Raymond helped an the farm and did carpenter work for others. He was an avid shuffleboard player when spending winters in Florida. He was a life long member of the Church of the Brethren before it merged with the Baptist Church to become Hillcrest Baptist and Brethren Church. He was a charter board member of the Fredericksburg Farmers Coop from 1956-1960 and served on the Rose Hill Cemetery for 30 years. He was selected the Grand Dairyman for the 1987 Dairy Day Celebration. Survivors include two sons, Jim (Mary), Marquette and Bill (Sondra), Fredericksburg; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death was his wife, Winifred, in 1992; his son, Richard, in 1956; his parents; one brother, Glen; two sisters, Lula Smith and Gertrude Green and a stepbrother, Earl Elliott. Memorials may be directed to the family.
