Dee, Robert C. 1913 - 2002NEW HAMPTON - Robert "Bob" Charles Dee, 88, New Hampton died Friday, Aug. 23, 2002 at Mercy Medical Center, New Hampton of natural causes. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28 at Holy Family Parish - St. Joseph Center, New Hampton with Rev. Carl Schmitt celebrating the mass. Music for the service will be provided by Sr. Lorraine Loecher as organist. The pall will be placed on the casket by his three daughters. Ralph and Gerry Kennedy will present the offertory gifts. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, New Hampton with Kevin Kennedy, John Meyer, Paul McClusky, Kevin Morgan, Jesse Morgan and John SaviYle as pallbearers. Military honors will be conducted by Fae Stine American Legion Post #38. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27 at Hugeback Funeral Home, New Hampton where there will be a 7 p.m. Scripture Service and 7:30 p.m. Video Memorial Tribute. Further visitation is an hour prior to the funeral at the church. Bob was born Oct. 15,1913 on the Dee family farm, north of New Hampton, the son of Thomas and Mary Alizabeth Condon Dee. He attended rural country school and graduated from New Hampton High School in 1932. After receiving his education, he and his friend Virgil "Dutch" Baltes gperated a gas station in New Hampton for a few years. On March 3, 1942, Bob enlisted into active service with the U.S. Army. He was a radio operator serving in central Europe during WWII and was honorably discharged on Oct. 21, 1945. He was united in marriage to Maureen Ahem of Cresco on Jun 1, 1946 at Assumption Catholic Church, Cresco. Bob worked for many years at the New Hampton Post Office beginning as s substitute carrier than fulltime mail carrier and retired as the Postmaster in 1975. During the Vietnam War, Bob servea on the local Draft Board. Memberships included the New Hampton Rotary Club, the Fae Stine American Legion Post #38, the New Hampton Golf and Country Club and he was a trustee at Calvary Cemetery, New Hampton. Bob especially enjoyed time with his grandchildren, golfing, fishing and traveling with his wife. Survivors include three daughters, Marilyn Morgan, Minneapolis, Joan (David) Dixon, Arcadia, CA and Kathleen (John) Saville, Albuquerque, NM; six grandchildren and one great-grandson. Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Maureen, in 1997; a son, Thomas, in infancy; two grandsons, Peter Morgan and Thomas Dixon; a sister, Wava Mary Dee and five brothers, Flavin, Justin, William, Frank and Evroul Dee.
