Blum, Muriel M. nee Helmers nee Parcher 1908 - 2002NASHUA - Muriel M. Blum, 93, Nashua, died Thursday, May 2, 2002 at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital, Charles City of natural causes. Funeral Services were 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 6 at the United Methodist Church, Nashua. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Nashua. Visitation was from 3 to 7:30 p.m. with an Eastern Star Service at 7 p.m. at the Chenoweth and Son Funeral Homg, Nashua. Visitation was also one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Muriel was born Dec. 4, 1908 in Rockford, the daughter of LeRoy and Stella (Warner) Parcher. She graduated from Rockford High School in 1925 having taken Normal training to teach school. She married Helmer Helmers Feb. 19, 1929 in Charles City; then married Lester (Johnny) Blum Sept. 25, 1937. She taught rural school for three years, raised chickens on the family farm, sewed and made draperies for Sheckler Furniture Store in Nora Springs. She lived in Rockford until 1967 when she moved to Nashua. She later moved to Charles City and was a resident at Salsbury Baptist Home before moving to Port Charles in December of 2000. Survivors include two daughters, Jeanne (Donald) Blum, Nashua and Viola (Gerald "Bud") Kingery, Charles City; one brother, Donald (Ber-nie) Parcher, Rockford; a sister, Goldie Marrs, Charles City; a sister-in-law, Carol Parcher, Rockford, eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husbands, Helmer Helmers, in 1935 and Lester (Johnny) Blum, in 1995; an infant son, Doyle Helmers; two brothers, Gale and Wayne Parcher.
