KEEGAN, Eleanor nee DeBETTIGNIES 1909 - 2001ROCHESTER, MN - Eleanor Keegan, 92, Rochester, . MN and formerly from New Hampton, died Wednesday, April 18, 2001 at Madonna Towers Nursing Home, Rochester, of natural causes. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 23 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, New Hampton, with Rev. Carl Schmitt presiding. Sr. Lorraine Loecher was organist and vocalist was Rich Leichtman. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery, New Hampton, witn Jack Gorman, Jim Schueth, Michael Hiebel, Patrick Hiebel, Timothy Hiebel and Rich Leichtman as pallbearers. Visitation was held an hour prior to the funeral at the churcn. Larkin-Martin-Huge-back Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Eleanor was born on April 12, 1909 in New Hampton, the daughter of William and Matilda (Westermeier) De Bettignies. She attended St. Mary s Grade School and New Hampton High School. On Nov. 25, 1929, she married Everett Keegan at St. Joseph Catholic Church, New Hampton. Mrs. Keegan worked at the former Ben Franklin Store in New Hampton and a local nursing home. Her husband died in 1977, and in 1979, Eleanor moved to an apartment in Rochester to be near her daughter. She became a resident of the Madonna Towers Nursing Home in 1994. Eleanor enjoyed looking for antiques with her husband and collecting art glass and miniature lamps. Survivors include one daughter, Shirley (Harvey) Hiebel, Rochester, MN; three grandsons; two great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband, Everett on May 6,1977 and her parents. Memorials may be made to the St. Joseph Build In Faith Fund.
