First Vote, 1869


FIRST VOTE – The colored men of Mt. Pleasant cast their first ballot on Monday last. The occasion was one of deep interest to them, and they seemed to fully realize the responsibility of the new right which they then for the first time enjoyed. They were nearly unanimous in favor of prohibition.
