Grand Junction

Population 1,100. An incorporated town, located on the C. & N. W. and M. and St. L. Rys.,
in Junction township, Greene county, 6-3/4 miles e. of Jefferson, the county seat,
50 n. w. of Des Moines and 363 from Chicago. Is lighted by electricity,
has churches of the Baptist, Catholic, German Evangelical, Methodist Episcopal
and Presbyterian denominations, an excellent  graded public school system,
the St. Mary's Academy, 2 banks, an opera house, 2 weekly newspapers,
the Globe and the Headlight. Ships grain, live stock, butter, eggs and poultry.
