The photo of Emma was likely taken about 1910 to 1914, give or take. Ned Townsend was a photographer in Charles City from about 1900 to about 1914. Emma was listed in the 1911 City Directory for Charles City; she was listed as a teacher, living with her parents at 402 Cedar.
In the 1920 Federal Census, she was listed as a roomer, living with Fred and Henrietta Otto on Gilbert Street in Charles City, Iowa. The photo of Emma probably fell into the hands of the Otto's at about that time. The Otto's were the great-great-grandparents of Betty Silvia, who provided this information and photo to Iowa GenWeb.
According to Emma's obituary in the Mason City Globe Gazette, April 18, 1951. It said she died at age 66, in Florida, while visiting her brother. The obituary was labelled "Former Rural Teacher Dies." She died on April 15, 1951, in Palatka, Putnam County, Florida. (See below)

Emma seems to have had many siblings; but she was never married.
OBITUARY
FORMER RURAL TEACHER DIES
CHARLES CITY -- Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Central Methodist church for Miss Emma Stoecker, who died Sunday afternoon at Palatka, Fla., where she had visited with her brother, Lee G. Stoecker, for the past several months. She was planning to return to Charles City when she suffered a stroke Thursday. The Rev. Howard F. Mercer, pastor of the church assisted by the Rev. Wesley F. Belling, retired minister, will officiate.
Miss Stoecker was born in Floyd county, daughter of John Adam and Barbara Stoecker. She was one of 8 children. An ardent lover of flowers, she was known for her generosity in furnishing flowers for shut-ins or hospital patients. She was graduated from the Charles City high school and attended the old Charles City college. She taught in rural school and at one time was assistant to the county superintendent of schools.
Active in the Central Methodist church, Miss Stoecker served for a time as superintendent of the Sunday school. At one time she was a nurse's aide at the Cedar Valley hospital. She was a member of the Rebekah lodge, Order of Eastern Star, Bethsaida White Shrine, and the Women's club.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Mary Meggitt, Charles City and her brother at Palatka. Three sisters and two brothers preceded her in death.
The remains will arrive in Charles City Thursday morning. Friends may call at the Hauser funeral home Thursday from 10 until 12 a.m. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery.
