Enlisted in union army 1861: Co G 3rd Regiment, Iowa, Vol. Cavalry; 1864-located to farm 2 miles S of Bonaparte, IA until 1868; moved to Pella Iowa & worked as a merchant. Treasurer of Iowa Central University of Pella; in 1881 returned to Bonaparte, IA area; moved to a farm 3 miles S of Hillsboro in 1893with wife & son Carlton. I have a number of obituaries and articles including essays written by Nelle Jewett Watts (wife of Robert Ramsey Watts) from the Hillsboro Iowa newspaper from 1894-1905. Nelle Jewett Watts pasted the articles into an 1890 book "Report of the Secretary of Agriculture".
