FAMILY NOTES
                   
General: Sebastian Vogeler and Eva Elizabeth Bott were married in Rambach, Kurhessen, 
Germany on January 15 1854. Four children were born to them while in Germany 
(William, Maggie, Christian, Martha). They came to the United States in 1868 and 
settled in Reynolds township. near Ashton, Illinois. A daughter Lizzie was born 
on October 4, 1868. Sebastian farmed the rest of his life on a 80 acre farm in 
Reynolds township, just east of the Reynolds Evangelical Church of which he was 
a member. Sebastian died in May 1897 and his wife Eva passed away in May 1904 
and both are buried in the Reynolds cemetery. 

Christ Vogeler was married to Anna Abel in 1888 a the Reynolds church and he
started farming in the area around Reynolds and Bradford townships Two children
were born to them while living in Illinois (John and Mary). Christ and his family 
moved to the Big Grove community in 1894,near Garrison,Iowa, where George was born, 
and farmed until 1922 when he retired to Dysart, Iowa. 

George took over the operation of the farm. George was married to his first wife (Gertrude
Shaffer) on January 28 1922. She was a school teacher at the Big Grove county school. Two 
children died in infancy and were buried in the Dysart cemetery. A daughter Georgean was 
born to them in Des Moines, Iowa, where Gertrude went to be with her father, a doctor, 
because of her health (diabetes). Gertrude passed away at the hospital at Vinton, Iowa 
March 7, 1945 and was buried in the Dysart cemetery. George was married to Audrey on 
November 21, 1949, at the Little Brown Church at Nashua.
