"Florence Stockade" was another notorious Confederate prison camp, hastily constructed in the late summer of 1864 so that prisoners at Andersonville could be transferred there as Sherman's army threatened. Soldiers were starved to death in that place and then shoveled into a mass, unmarked grave. It is now a national cemetery. Adams, Martin (born in Canada) Resident of Charles City, Iowa.
