| The Fourth Annual Grand River Alumni meeting was called to order at
1:00 o'clock by Mr. Donald Adams, President (class 1958). Invocation was
given by Mr. Matthew McDowell (class 1930) in the absence of Rev. Duane
Mooberry (class 1962), after which everyone enjoyed a bountiful dinner. At 2:00 o'clock the meeting again called to order by the President. He gave a welcome to all, and introduced Mr. Vaughn Smyth of Leon, Iowa, as photographer and announced pictures to be taken. The minutes of the 1968 meeting read and approved. The financial report was given with a balance of $145.79, as of June 1, 1969. By the time the books were turned over in September, a balance of $375.14 on hand to start the 1970, 5th edition books. In March '69, the officers voted that the sale of Volume #4, to be sold at $1.50 and the old Volumes #1-#2 to be sold at the original price of $2.00, and the #3 to be .50 cents, as those books are becoming obsolete. Roll call of the graduating classes were called, with each class standing for recognition. The President introduced G. W. Evans (class 1927) as chairman of the Book Sales committee and E. G. Harger (class 1928) as chairman of nominations. Both gave short talks. The nomination Chairman reported that Mrs. Lena (Boles) Hewlett (class 1953) as President and Mrs. Wilda (Burchett) Boles (class 1931) as Secretary-Treasurer for the ensuing year. A motion was made by Mr. Howard Beard (class 1921) that the nominations be accepted. These names unanimously approved. Classes from 1899 - 1919 were called and complimentary books presented to those present: Warren Day - 1900; Martha (Young) Johnston - 1908; Hallie (Durham) Kelley - 1906; Alvina (Jennings) Clayton - 1908; Ray Jennings - 1908; Nellie (Wadsworth) Williams - 1909. A group picture was taken. Books were sent to Mr. and Mrs. Homer Griffin (1903-1908), Mr. E. Ray Morrell (1905), and Mrs. Charles Northey (1909). All teachers, past and present, were called to the front for pictures. Other special attendance groups, as the Baker Family, a California group and several classes and individual pictures. The President thanked all his committees and extended an invitation to all to be back in 1970. Meeting closed in regular form.
