The Davis City Advance, Davis City, Iowa Thursday, May 3, l900 BURRELL ITEMS: CLARENCE SPRINGER has closed his store in Terre Haute for the present and gone into the livery business in Lamoni. FRANK SUTHERLIN had a small funeral all by himself last Sunday, when he buried one of his horses. MEL COHENOUR helped JOHN MYERS break a wild colt last Sunday. CHAUNCY HAINDEL has got settled on the SEYBOLT farm at last. PHILIP SMITH's neighbors and relatives helped him celebrate his 69th birthday, Sunday. His two daughters Mesdames HAINDEL and WILL SHOEMAKER got up an excellent dinner for him which all helped him get away with. Your humble servant, not being used to victuals, was foundered. WILL SHOEMAKER's horses got out of his pasture and across the river into MCCULLY's ditch. When he found them one was almost out of sight in the mud and they had to use rope and pulleys to get it out. The Davis City Advance, Davis City, Iowa Thursday, May 3, l900 HAMILTON ITEMS: MR. and MRS. CALVIN WILLIAMS have a young son. ROBERT HARVEY's young child died last week. MRS. WILL MCCORMICK died Sunday night. Interment at Hamilton on Tuesday. She was a daughter of MR. and MRS. MCWILLIAMS and leaves two children too young to know their loss. MISS LAURA COWLES who has been teaching in the Government Indian Schools at Platte, S.D., is enjoying her vacation with her parents and many friends. MRS. ELMORE who was hurt by a fall, is around again. The bridge across Sand Branch on the Pleasanton Road, will soon be rebuilt. Quite a number have corn planted May lst. MRS. HENRY COWLES was white washing and was unlucky in getting lime in her eyes, which seriously injured them. MISS EMMA MYERS, a blind lady, preached at the South Church in Pleasanton Sunday eve. She will also fill the pulpit next Sunday. JOHN WILLIS will preach at Riverview next Sunday. J.M. WILLIS has moved the post office to the main street in Pleasanton.
