Leon Reporter, Leon, Iowa Thursday, March 11, 1897 This is a grand county; it's the biggest snow of the season, about one inch deep but still falling in large flakes. Mike Koger is married. Mr. Roling had a bush whacking last Tuesday, Roy Koger one Wednesday and Uncle Baldwin one yesterday. Roy got about three acres cleared that was good for this country. Baldwin's was not a success. Mike Koger has a fine 25 pound boy, and the little fellow likes free silver as well as its pa. B.F. Koger is agent for the Hapgood Plow Co. at Alton, Ill. That McKinley prosperity has not struck us in southwest Missouri yet. We don't ask him any favors and don't expect to take the gold standard as the money of our fathers. Mark my predictions the people will revolt sooner or later and hang old Hanna to a black jack or some other jack. It may be a Spanish jack. We have lots of them in this country. The writer of this shot and killed two turkeys at one shot on Tuesday before Christmas. Mr. Editor you should have been here to carve turkey for Christmas. Mr. Editor bring your wife and come down to Cedar County and we will do our best to get a turkey. Peaches are all right here. This is a fine fruit country. There is one farm one mile east of me that had 2,500 bushels last year and if nothing happens there will be lots of them this year. Come down and we will see the wonderful cavern. --B.F. KOGER.
