Quite a refreshing shower fell Saturday night and Sunday night.

So far spring has opened up gloriously. Grass, wheat and rye look splendid.

We are informed by our school director that Pleasant View School will commence next Monday, April 8th.

MR. JUDE HUGHES visited his uncle MR. HOWELL CHANDLER near High Point, one night last week. MR. CHANDLER is in very poor health.

MRS. ELLEN LONG called at C.E. CHASTAIN's Tuesday of last week.

One day last week as MR. and MRS. GOODSON were returning from town, their horse became frightened, and turned the buggy over, throwing MR. GOODSON and wife over a steep bank but fortunately no one was seriously injured, but both were pretty badly bruised.

Quite a number of the young folks enjoyed the evening at MR. MORGAN's last week.

MISS LYDIA HUGHES is taking music lessons of MRS. ANNA LONG.

Its beginning to look pretty suspicious to see ED CARRITHERS remodeling his house and fixing up his farm in apple pie order. We think he might explain himself.

MRS. BUELL and daughter DESSA, also MRS. N. GARBER spent quite a pleasant evening at MR. HUGHES' the past week.

MRS. MCDONOUGH and MRS. PUGH visited friends up north Thursday of last week.

HUD HUGHES is working for MR. PAINTER.

MR. BAKER assisted MR. JOHN LONG haul corn from Crown.

The members of the church at Crown Chapel are going to meet one day this week and clean up the church.

As I have not seen our little burg represented in your correspondence columns, will send you a few items.

THEODORE and JAMES MULLEN have their new blacksmith and paint shop completed and are now ready for business.

I. BIRD, our rustling young grocery clerk, is kept busy these days counting eggs and waiting on the chewing gum trade.

GEORGE MILLER has moved his family back to his property. That is right, GEORGE; stay with us now.

The Farm News and the ADVANCE one year for only $1.10. Every farmer should take some farm journal.

JOEL LUCAS is remodeling the old Hamilton Hotel, and it begins to look like old times around there.

WES HAWDERSHETT (sic) and JOHN TILLES have rented WM. LAMB's shop and will use it to make sharp the dull plows and mend the broken wagons. Look out for JOHN.

CHARLES SHAFFNER is having a new barn built, 30x42 feet. F. CHASEY and GEO CARTWRIGHT are pushing the nails for him.

JAMES ODELL has just completed a fine veranda on his house. That's right, JIMMIE; now you can rest in the shade.

LEVI GATTON has moved into MART CAMPBELL's house near the South Road.

JAMAICA NORMAN had a new set of boarders over Sunday.

R.L. GORE and one of the printers from the ADVANCE office passed through here Sunday en route for the mineral well south of town. Call again, boys, but stay longer next time.

Before we get street cars to the mineral well, I will write you the news again.

MR. NEIL STILL and wife visited relatives in Lamoni who are quite sick, Saturday, and returned home Sunday.

The merchants of Blockley have donated some work to the streets, which makes considerable improvement.

A good team of horses and harness were taken from vicinity to Leon last Saturday and sold under the hammer for $53. Constable J.B. TIPPIE did the the auctioneering.

Call the ADVANCE office for sale bills and job work. Neat work promptly done. Terms, cash.

MR. LILLY and family visited at MR. CHAS. KIRK's last Sunday.

MR. HARRISON SHIRLEY drove to Lamoni last Sunday to see his sister-in-law, who is dangerously ill.

MR. ELLSWORTH SYLVESTER and wife of Davis City, visited with JOHN GIBLER last Sunday.

A. VAN WINKLE has completed the Hardscrabble School House. J.M. KEELER and J.B. TIPPIE, Committee, report it as the best school house in Eden Township.

MISS PEARL NORMAN began a term of school at Hardscrabble last Monday and has made a good commencement for her first experience.
