| Susan Ann Kelley (née Walters), wife of Dr James
Emmett Kelley, buried at Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry. Originally from
Indiana she became a nurse and was employed as a nurse and working at
the Hines VA Hospital in Chicago in 1941 when she enlisted in the Army.
She was sent to Brooke Army Hospital (note corrected spelling) by the
Army in 1941 and remained in the Army until 1945 when she was honorably
discharged with the rank of Captain. She married Dr James Emmett Kelley
in Texas while in the Army; and, she came to Perry in 1945. She is
buried with James at Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry. Gravestone Photo |
