Death of W.T. Scarborough

(Van Meter Special)

William T. Scarborough passed away very suddenly Thursday evening, May 24th at Hastings , Minnesota . While assisting with the evening chores at the home of his sister Mrs. Ida Krohn where he made his home he dropped dead. The body was brought here to the home of his daughter Mrs. Henry Wishmier and the funeral was held at the Methodist Episcopal church in DeSoto Sunday afternoon conducted by the Rev. H. M. Sippel of Adel. The burial was in the DeSoto cemetery by the side of his wife who died eight years ago.

Mr. Scarborough was 74 years old and had lived the major portion of his life in the DeSoto vicinity. He lived first on a farm southwest of DeSoto and later moved to town where he was in the insurance and real estate business. He married Alma Beck in 1880 . Since the death of his wife eight years ago he has made his home among his relatives. He is survived by three daughters Mrs.J.A. Thornton and Mrs.Jess Bolander of Adel and Mrs. Henry Wishmier of Van Meter, three sons Earl C., W.W. and M. W. Scarborough all of Minneapolis , Minnesota , three brothers J. A. Scarborough of Valley Junction, Bert of Des Moines, and Charles Scarborough of Oakland, California, and five sisters , Mrs. Ida Krohn of Hastings , Minnesota , Mrs. Nellie Payton of Minneapolis , Minnesota ; Mrs. Blanch Neff of Clarence Center , New York , Mrs. Jennie Hobbs of Jesup , Iowa and Mrs. Cora Simpson, of Seattle , Washington
