Father Michael J. Hogan built the school in 1915. The Presentation Sisters of Dubuque conducted the school until 1969, when the last eighth grad class graduated.

1941
Four St. Patrick's School pupils received diplomas at the Clayton county eighth grade graduation exercises held Wednesday evening in the elkader high school auditorium. Graduates were Rose Mary Berns, Patricia Geraghty, Thomas Grady and Ralph Welch. On the Honor Roll were Ralph Welch, 91.5 and Thomas Grady, 90.6.
